Background: Substance use disorders (SUDs) adversely affect an individual's quality of life (QOL) across physical, psychological, social, and environmental domains. In India, limited research evaluates QOL among clients receiving treatment at de-addiction clinics. Quality of life (QOL) is a vital aspect of substance use and deaddiction centers, encompassing an individual’s overall well-being and satisfaction with their life. It goes beyond just addressing the addiction, and includes physical health, mental health, social relationships, family dynamics, employment, finances, legal status, housing, personal growth, leisure activities, and overall life satisfaction. Objectives: To assess the QOL of clients attending de-addiction clinics. To determine the association between QOL and selected socio-demographic variables. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted on 100 clients attending the de-addiction clinic at P.L. Sharma District Hospital, Meerut. WHOQOL-BREF (26-item) was used to assess QOL. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests for associations. Results: The majority (69%) of the participants had a low QOL score, 25% had a moderate score, and only 6% had a high QOL. Significant associations were found between QOL and area of residence (χ² = 10.91, p < 0.05), history of illness (χ² = 10.68, p < 0.01), and duration of clinic attendance (χ² = 11.75, p < 0.05). Conclusion: The findings highlight the poor QOL among clients attending de-addiction services. Targeted interventions addressing social and clinical determinants are critical to enhance recovery outcomes.
