The topic of ecosystem conservation and the cost of ecosystem services plays a prominent role in scientific discussions on climate change. The key place in this belongs to specially protected natural areas (protected areas), which are a kind of anchors of landscapes and contribute to the preservation of ecosystems in a changing climate. In recent years, there has been a change in the system of development of protected areas and their gradual integration into the socio-economic space. This requires comprehensive work with goals, risks and target audiences, which involves the use of strategic communications. In this regard, it is very important to analyze the impact of strategic communications in the management of specially protected areas. The growing problem of the personnel shortage of permanent employees and seasonal workers attracted by protected areas gives rise to a request for communication support for attracting and retaining protected area personnel, that is, the development of human capital. The article uses an empirical method of collecting information, examines the importance of strategic communications, as well as current trends for the preservation of a unique natural environment. The authors explore changing approaches to the functioning of protected areas themselves and possible development vectors. In conclusion, the authors propose a model of strategic communication to achieve the key goal of preserving biodiversity and ecosystems. The methods that were used in the study: description, comparison, analysis, classification and forecasting. The work used the works of foreign and Russian authors: Sevryukov I. Yu., Chirtsova A. A., Vagina O. V., Gaevskaya E. Yu., Vinogradova E. A., Brooks R., Goldman E., Paul S. In this paper, researchers determine the degree of influence of strategic communications on the management system of protected areas, the role of strategic communications in making management decisions, as well as tools to minimize existing risks. The article also presents the results of an analysis of special legislation on protected areas, official policy documents, examines various development vectors that can have a noticeable impact on the protected area system as a whole, and the authors identify the place and role of strategic communications in this process.
