The paper analyzes the content of the Novgorodskiy Sbornik, a publication of the Novgorod Statistical Committee, edited by N. G. Bogoslovsky, who served as secretary of the committee. Published as a supplement to the committee’s regular memorandums, the Novgorodskiy Sbornik compiled materials related to the history, statistics, and ethnography of the Novgorod province. Although only five issues were released, they offer a valuable snapshot of life across five districts of the Novgorod province in the latter half of the 19th century. In addition to historical and local history essays authored by the editor, the collection features documents on military settlements, including correspondence from Count A. A. Arakcheev addressing various local and state matters, as well as records pertaining to the military settlements within the Novgorod province. Each issue also contains a rich assortment of folklore materials—such as songs, riddles, and proverbs—collected by various contributors. The publication’s appendices include detailed drawings of coats of arms and plans of district towns, further enriching its ethnographic and historical value.
