This study aims to prove the effectiveness of the presumption of attribution in achieving the formal and semantic cohesion of a linguistic sample, both linearly and vertically, by relying on the descriptive methodology, combined with an analytical approach to examine the poem “Fi Alquds” (In Jerusalem) by the Palestinian poet Tamim Al-Barghouthi. The study seeks to monitor and analyze the context of attribution within the poem, determine its impact on the cohesion of the text, and explore how it contributes to achieving the formal and semantic coherence of Al-Barghouthi’s poem. The study concludes that the starting point of textual analysis lies in examining the referential structure, followed by exploring how it extends within the overall textual structure. Tamim Al-Barghouthi succeeded in employing the presumption of attribution to establish cohesion in his poetic text, by accurately linking the components of the surface structure of the text on one hand, and maintaining the semantic continuity, which ensures ongoing interaction between the text and the reader, on the other.
