Awareness and use of electronic resources among undergraduates of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, Kebbi State, Nigeria

Abstract

The study focused on the awareness and usage of library resources among undergraduate students of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero. A survey research design was adopted. A total of 32 who responded to Google form were used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire which was distributed through google form. Three research questions were postulated: The data were analysed with frequency and percentages. The results showed that the students were more aware of ScienceDirect resources, followed by Research4Life and DSpace. ScienceDirect also comes top on the usage, followed by Research4Life resources and then e-granary. On the frequency of usage, those that use it weekly were the highest, followed by daily and then monthly usage, respectively. The respondents were found to be using the various resources depending on their abilities and some challenges were also observed like lack of awareness about some of the resources, how to utilize some of them etc. More ICT facilities should be provided; there should also be adequate power back up and more awareness on the facilities available in the library
