The article examines the role of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in protecting the rights of minor children in civil proceedings, in particular, when considering cases of deprivation of parental rights. The authors analyze the regulatory framework, including the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Family Code of the Russian Federation and the explanations of the Supreme Court, and also provide statistical data on the dynamics of court decisions in this category of cases. Special attention is paid to the legal significance of the prosecutor's opinion and its impact on the outcome of the trial. Based on the analysis of judicial practice, the author substantiates the need to make the prosecutor's opinion imperative in cases affecting the interests of children in order to minimize the risks of unjustified restriction of parental rights and preserve family ties.
