The relevance of aquaculture in the global context is based on the fact that it constitutes a more viable alternative in the face of the growing demand for fish. The object of study is to characterize the fish farming production chain in the municipality of Benevides, in the state of Pará. Data collection took place between April 2023 and September 2024, through the application of 46 questionnaires and interviews with social actors in the production chain of fish farming in the municipality of Benevides, in addition to field observations in different regions of the municipality, in order to ratify the information found and understand the work routine of the activities carried out. As a result, it was demonstrated that the municipality of Benevides has the potential to stand out in the aquaculture scenario of Pará, given its strategic position located close to the metropolitan region of Belém, in addition to the fact that public policies, such as: rias with the State Government for the acquisition of inputs, Fish Fair, established by Law and the National School Food Program-PNAE, encouraged from increased production to flow. In this sense, local government management is fundamental for the development of the sector, considering that the performance of these entities in the current scenario of activity is extremely important, from the formulation of policies to the implementation of regulations and incentive programs. In addition, promotion of financial support, training and access to new technologies.
