The rapid expansion of the metaverse introduces significant cybersecurity risks, including identity fraud, deepfake manipulation, malware attacks, and financial vulnerabilities. Traditional security methods struggle to protect decentralized and immersive virtual environments, forcing advanced solutions. This paper explores the evolution of the Metaverse and Cybersecurity, the types of cybersecurity threats in the Metaverse and emerging solutions for cybersecurity in the Metaverse. It discusses about the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain models to address these challenges. AI-driven threat detection systems, blockchain-based financial security tools, and smart contract auditing frameworks are examined as critical solutions for safeguarding user identities, transactions, and digital assets. Additionally, emerging security technologies such as AI-powered biometric authentication, deepfake detection tools, and blockchain-based risk management platforms are evaluated for their role in strengthening metaverse security. The study highlights that a collaborative approach between academia, industry, and policymakers is essential to create a secure, transparent, and resilient metaverse ecosystem.
