We are at the hands of an environmental crisis, with pharmacy practice contributing greatly to the emerging pertinent matter of environmental sustainability. With 19% of healthcare-related carbon emissions in Australia being derived from the pharmacy industry, it begs the question: are we truly helping, or inadvertently harming our communities and the environment? Community pharmacists play an important role in the optimisation of sustainability, and the pharmaceutical industry must acknowledge the great impact it has on the environment.
