In the article the author examines the authorities’ attitude towards the Slavophils in 1840–1850. In many respects such attitude was determined by the political directives adopted in relation to the Slavs, who were subjects of Turkey and Austria. Exactly those Slavs determined the change in the attitude of Nicolas I towards the Slavophils in 1830–1840. Among the factors that conditioned those directives was the influence of the court “German party” on the emperor, which could be considered one of the primary ones. The author describes the conditions, under which the Slavophil editions were published. He shows the role of Countess A.D. Bludova and her father D.N. Bludov in supporting out of favor Slavophils, and as the result, – the turn in Russian foreign policy in the middle of the 1850ies. In the article the author uses the unpublished memoires of Countess Bludova and two manuscripts prepared by A.N. Popov in 1853–1854 at the instance of the Countess.
