Abstract Understanding the risk factors that motivate rape perpetrators to commit complicity, multiple rapes, gang rapes, and exploiting the different vulnerabilities of the victim in the course of the crime of rape of minors is the key to better protecting minors. In this paper, we collect data from 165 cases of rape of minors in China and use correlation analysis and linear regression analysis to investigate the relationship between eight different sets of data. We categorized the collected data into two main groups, which are rapists’ personal traits and crime circumstances, and explored the correlation between them, and whether each crime circumstance was relevant through data analysis. It was found that there is a positive correlation between the different circumstances of the offence, and that individual offender characteristics can explain the occurrence of some of the circumstances of the offence and thus become relevant risk factors. Based on these findings, this paper discusses risk prevention measures for the protection of minors’ sexual freedom.
