Using an original technique based on the features of elastic anisotropy of crystals, residual stresses in the surface layers of metal alloys after ion nitriding, in heat-protective coatings and coatings based on refractory metals, as well as in trip steels have been analyzed. It is shown that in multilayer (n = 120 layers) Nb / Mo magnetron coatings with a thickness of 800 μm, lower compressive residual stresses (less than 600 MPa) are formed than in monolayer Nb and Mo coatings with a thickness of 10 μm.
