This study critically examines Durjoy Datta’s fiction as a literary reflection of contemporary Indian youth culture, with a specific focus on the millennial generation. Drawing on Cultural Studies Theory and Youth Subculture Theory, the research explores recurring themes such as romantic relationships in the digital age, urban aspirations, mental health, and the negotiation between tradition and modernity. Through secondary qualitative analysis of Datta’s novels and relevant scholarly discourse, the paper demonstrates how his narratives embody the aspirations, dilemmas, and evolving identities of Indian millennials. Datta’s accessible yet emotionally resonant storytelling captures the cultural hybridity, technological immersion, and socio-economic transformations shaping youth life in post-liberalisation India. The study situates his work as both a mirror and mediator of generational experiences, highlighting its significance within popular literature and youth culture studies. By foregrounding emotional authenticity, cultural negotiation, and generational consciousness, Datta’s fiction is positioned as an important cultural archive for understanding the complexities of modern Indian youth.
