Bioethanol or ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH) is a group of molecular chemical compounds containing hydroxyl groups (–OH) that are bound to carbon atoms. Bioethanol is a renewable alternative fuel produced from agricultural products and scrap resources. The purpose of this study is to analyze the engine performance, pollutant emissions, and economic value of bioethanol fuel. Tested methods of performance, namely engine torque, brake power, brake specific fuel consumption (bsfc), brake mean effective pressure (bmep), brake thermal efficiency, and exhaust gas emissions (CO, HC, CO2, and NOx), full open throttle valve, with test standardized SAE J 1349 DEC 80. Dynamometer engine setup experiments with a gasoline engine, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, SOHC with liquid cooling, achieving a maximum torque of 182 Nm at 4,000 rpm and a maximum power of 137 PS at 5,600 rpm. The engine performance is maximum by rice bran bioethanol-gasoline fuel blends E35 (torque it was 178.40 Nm at 3500 rpm, power it was 134.10 PS at 5500rpm, MEP it was 158 kg/cm2 at 3500rpm, and thermal efficiency it was 28.45 % at 4000 rpm, while bsfc of E15 to E55 are higher compared to that of gasoline. Exhaust gas CO and HC emissions decrease with a higher bioethanol percentage in the blend, while CO2 and NOx emissions increase as the percentage content of bioethanol in the blend increases, with no effect on fuel system components or the ignition system. Based on economic calculations, the cost of bioethanol production from rice bran reached Rp 16,500 per liter.
