Motivation can interest students in engaging in physical exercises, increase their activity, purposefulness, and encourage them to engage in physical education and health-improving activities and physical education lessons. The article proves that motivation forms interests, needs, aspirations, emotions, beliefs, ideals, attitudes that encourage students to physical education lessons. It is established that one of the main contextual factors is the organization of the educational process in physical education lessons. The purpose of the article is to investigate the influence of means of forming motivation in middle- aged students for physical education lessons on their physical fitness indicators. The research was conducted in Lyceum No. 8, Zhytomyr city in 2024–2025, in which (23 boys and 25 girls) participated, who were engaged in the method of forming motivation for physical education classes. The methodology for forming motivation for physical education classes in middle-aged students represents a set of systematized means, techniques, forms, rules and methods, pedagogical technologies and selective types of motor activity. The results of the experiment showed that the use of the methodology for forming students' motivation for physical education contributed not only to the improvement of sustainable motivation, the development of social competencies, but also to physical fitness. An important role in the formation of students' motivation for physical education is played by the teacher, namely his culture of communication with students, pedagogical skill, and pedagogical tact. The formation of students' sustainable motivation for physical education lessons is the result of a teacher's properly organized systematic educational work, his emotional filling of the content of physical education lessons, and a tool for increasing interest in regular physical exercise. The formed active life position and successful social adaptation of students to systematic physical exercises contributes to the improvement of their physical fitness indicators.
