The article deals with the activities of libraries of the CIS countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) to preserve the historical memory of the contribution of the USSR peoples to the victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941—1945). The relevance of the topic is conditioned by the current foreign policy situation and the desire of some countries to “rewrite” history. The article gives specific examples from the experience of cultural institutions during the war years, and also lists a number of cultural and educational events and activities of CIS libraries dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. The authors summarize the results of the round table “Preserving the historical memory of the activities of CIS libraries during the Great Patriotic War”, held on 26 March 2025 as part of the international scientific and practical conference “LIBWAY—2025: Science, Technology and Information in Libraries” and note the need for scientific and cultural cooperation to study significant aspects of the activities of libraries in the Great Patriotic War.
