This article analyzes the history and development of criminal punishments not related to isolation from society in the criminal legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It discusses the process of modernization of criminal penalties in Uzbekistan, changes in legislation and periods of adaptation to the socio-legal requirements of society, and bringing them into line with international legal standards. The effectiveness of criminal punishments, their impact on human rights and freedoms, and their contribution to positive changes in society are also analyzed. At the same time, the importance of improving the system of criminal punishments based on the principles of humanism, directing the goals of punishment towards social rehabilitation and resocialization, is emphasized. The article also discusses the need to increase the effectiveness of punishments, reduce crime rates, and ensure public safety by introducing new methods and approaches to criminal law. The research serves to deeply study new directions in the field of criminal legislation in Uzbekistan and problems related to ensuring social justice. At the same time, it creates a basis for increasing the effectiveness of existing laws, adapting the penal system to human rights, and developing innovative approaches to crime prevention. The results of the study will contribute to the creation of a fair and humane system of criminal penalties in the country, as well as expand the possibilities of harmonizing legislation with international standards.
