The article examines current trends and forecasts of the development of the petrochemical complex in 2025, in the context of global challenges and regional peculiarities. The impact of the energy transition and global overproduction on the petrochemical industry, as well as the strategies of the leading players in the context of changing demand patterns, is studied. Special attention is paid to the differences in the dynamics of the industry by region: in developed countries, Asia, the Middle East, North America and Russia. Based on official statistical data, forecasts of international organizations (IEA, EIA, OPEC, etc.), company reports (BP, Shell, ExxonMobil, SIBUR, etc.) and scientific publications, key trends in the development of the petrochemical complex in 2025 have been revealed. These include a shift in the drivers of oil demand growth towards petrochemical raw materials, excess polymer production capacity, increased environmental constraints, and innovative areas (digitalization, decarbonization, and circular economy). The article draws conclusions about the prospects of the petrochemical complex in the medium term and provides recommendations for improving its sustainability in the face of global changes.
