Statement of the problem. Within Ukrainian musicology, the creative legacy of French composer Andr Jolivet remains insufficiently studied, particularly his contributions to the development of trumpet concertos in the 20th century. Despite the increasing interest in multicultural influences and genre hybridization in contemporary music research, Jolivet’s unique synthesis of archaic ritualism, jazz idioms, and European compositional techniques is still underrepresented in scholarly discourse. Objectives, methods, and novelty of the research. The purpose of the study is to analyze Andr Jolivet’s Concertino and Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in the context of stylistic pluralism, ritual semantics, and the evolution of solo brass repertoire in the mid-20th century. The methodological basis of the research includes comparative analysis, genre-stylistic interpretation, semiotic reading of musical structures, and contextualization of Jolivet’s works within broader aesthetic and philosophical currents of French music. The novelty of the research lies in the interpretation of Jolivet’s trumpet concertos not only as technical and stylistic innovations, but also as manifestations of a deeper ontological and ritualistic function of music. For the first time in Ukrainian musicology, this study positions Jolivet’s brass concertos as landmarks in the transformation of concert genre aesthetics in post-war Europe. Research results. The analysis reveals that Jolivet’s Concertino and Concerto for trumpet represent a complex stylistic synthesis that transcends genre boundaries. They integrate neo-romantic expressiveness, expressionist dramaturgy, jazz rhythms, and archaic ritual codes into a unified musical language. These compositions reflect a new understanding of the trumpet’s expressive capacity and redefine the soloist’s role as both a virtuoso and a symbolic communicator. The works also highlight the metaphysical aspirations of mid-century French music, echoing Jolivet’s vision of music as a sacred and transformative force. Conclusion. The study concludes that Jolivet’s contributions to the brass repertoire significantly influenced the trajectory of 20th-century works for trumpet and demand further scholarly attention, especially in the Ukrainian academic field.
