This article serves as an initial exploration into the transformative potential of art inspired by biomedical imaging, as demonstrated through the work of artists featured on the international art platform MEDinART (https://www.MEDinART.eu. Accessed 18 June 2025). The platform highlights artistic works by artists who integrate elements of biomedical science with various forms of art. The analysis examines the social impact of biomedical imaging-inspired art, focusing particularly on how this genre can familiarize viewers with human anatomy, histology, cellular biology and the often-invisible microcosm. It also considers how such art can alleviate existential anxieties related to illness and death, challenge societal perceptions of medical conditions and the human body and enhance the diagnostic and observational skills of physicians. Additionally, the work fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, reshapes scientific language by introducing new metaphors, as well as humanizing medical experiences by improving communication, empathy and awareness. Ultimately, art inspired by biomedical imaging may challenge conventional perspectives on the self, the human body and machines, urging us to reflect on our potential as a species and inspiring a more holistic understanding of the human experience.
