SUMMARY: Aim: The aim of the article was to verify the hypothesis: The biggest problem of contemporary youth is the feeling of loneliness. The aim of the article was also to show the connection between the abuse of the Internet and the increasing feeling of loneliness, especially among young people. In this context, the research questions were posed: What is the feeling of loneliness? What are the main causes of feeling loneliness among young people? How to counteract the harmful effects of social media addiction?Methods: The article uses the method of analysis and synthesis of professional literature, the monographic-descriptive method and statistical data analysis. Results: There is a statistical relationship (correlation) between loneliness and internet addiction. Young people overuse social media and have trouble forming relationships, which increases loneliness. Lack of digital hygiene translates into poor psychosocial health. Conclusion: Loneliness is not only a threat, but also a space for human development. Youth need social support and the formation of healthy habits. Preventive actions against loneliness should cover all environments. Combating the loneliness of children and youth seems to be one of the most important tasks. Originality: In the era of digital revolution, we need to take care of the health of young people so that they can cope with the feeling of loneliness. Internet addiction can be a predictor of loneliness. Modern people are not a lost generation, especially young people. The subject of the article is a response to the current needs of society. The growth of digital skills should go hand in hand with the development of interpersonal communication.
