The purpose of this article is to investigate the obstructive factors that contribute to the correct application of the intercultural model of education in the Greek educational reality. The method of systematic review was used to conduct the research, examining research carried out in the field of intercultural education in the period 2005-2018. The results of the research showed that intercultural education in Greece faces significant obstacles with the most important, the communication problems that arise due to the non-acquisition of the Greek language by foreign students and the inadequacy of the appropriate intercultural capital by the educational community. Problems are also identified in the existing educational material and curricula. Finally, we present a series of proposals that could help eliminate the aforementioned problems.
