The main purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of a secondary school principal’s emotional intelligence on the effectiveness of his management. Emotional intelligence is studied as a trait of one’s personality and the criteria of effectiveness revolve around the triptych: a. traits b. manner of management c. a principal’s leadership style and leadership model. In addition, the leadership models adopted by principals and their correlation with the effectiveness of management are explored. The research was conducted with a questionnaire and the subjects of the research were principals and teachers in Attiki, Greece. The results of the quantitative research reveal that self-control and sociability are key factors of emotional intelligence which influence the effectiveness of a principal"s management. The theory of Ioannis G. Tsatsaris about the "organic sensory functionality of the individual" is proven and a new type of intelligence emerges which the researcher has coined “sensual intelligence".
