One of the significant complications of community-acquired pneumonia in children is the destruction of lung tissue (necrotizing pneumoniae). The primary causative agents of necrotizing pneumonia are Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. A case of necrotizing pneumonia in a 3-year-old child caused by a combination of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Klebsiella pneumoniae is described. Сomputed tomography (CT) of the chest revealed an extensive area of lung tissue destruction with irregularly thickened walls at the level of segments 6–9 in the lower lobe of the right lung. Streptococcus pneumoniae antigen was detected in the urine. Antibodies to Mycoplasma pneumoniae were identified in the blood using serological methods. Klebsiella pneumoniae was isolated from sputum cultures. The patient showed positive clinical improvement with antibiotic therapy and was discharged on the 24-th day of illness. This case highlights the possibility of necrotizing pneumonia caused by a co-infection of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
