Human right is an alienable privilege embellished by state in its constitution. The safeguard of these fundamental rights represent a viable benchmark to assess a country’s commitment to democratic ideals. Sadly, observation and empirical studies have indicated that Nigeria has had a chequered history of abuse of rights and privileges of its people. This paper therefore examined the effects of incidents of human right violation on the country’s image in the international community between 2015 and 2023. In a methodological sense, the study reviewed secondary sources of data and textually analyzed. The study further revealed alarming height of human right violations by the security agencies as these unpleasant incidents undermined Nigeria’s international image under Muhammadu Buhari’s administration within the period (2015-2023) under review. From these findings, the study recommends enabling legislation, advocacy, police reform as among other measures to abate violations of rights and privileges for better Nigeria’s image in the international community.
