Significance. A serious test for the health care system was the emergence of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), which required the mobilization of all resources, the re-profiling of most medical organizations into infectious diseases hospitals, and the performance of tasks related to the rapid diagnosis and provision of medical care to patients with the new coronavirus infection. The purpose of the study. Analyze the number of adult patients with a new coronavirus infection hospitalized in medical organizations providing assistance in inpatient conditions in the Russian Federation in 2020–2023. Material and methods. The materials for the study were regulatory documents that regulate the organization of medical care for patients with a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), data from the form of federal statistical observation № 14 on the number of hospitalized adult patients with a new coronavirus infection in hospitals, including those delivered for emergency indications, of which by ambulance teams in the Russian Federation for 2020–2023. Methods of content analysis, statistical, analytical, descriptive statistics were used in the work. Results. In the Russian Federation for 2020–2023, a downward trend has been identified in the number of adult patients with a new coronavirus infection in medical organizations, providing inpatient care, from 16,4 to 1,72 per 1,000 population aged 18 and over, the proportion of adult patients discharged in all classes of diseases - from 9,7 to 0,9%, the proportion of adult patients delivered to hospitals for emergency indications by ambulance teams - from 78,3 to 71,6%. A significant increase in the number of adult patients with a new coronavirus infection in medical organizations providing assistance in inpatient conditions was noted in 2021 at the peak of the pandemic. Conclusion. The results of the study found that in 2021 in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation there were fluctuations in the number of adult patients with a new coronavirus infection in medical organizations providing assistance in inpatient conditions. For 2020–2023, a high proportion of adult patients with a new coronavirus infection are delivered to medical organizations providing assistance in inpatient conditions for emergency indications, including ambulance teams.
