The stress field of a dipole of disclinations located in the central part of a cylindrical nanowire has been first calculated within the linear elasticity theory. The formation by gliding of a dipole of edge dislocations has been then investigated from an energy variation calculation. The barrier energy, unstable equilibrium positions and dislocation positions beyond which the dipole formation is energetically favorable have been then determined. A stability diagram for the dislocation formation and gliding, from the nanowire center to its free-surface, has been finally displayed versus the length and strength of the disclination dipole.
