The subject of the research is the English sport oriented motivational discourse, its defining and distinctive features. The purpose of the study is to determine the specifics of the representation of the English sport oriented motivational discourse. The author examines such aspects of the topic as the features of expressing sport oriented motivational discourse in modern communication and the lexical characteristics of this type of discourse. The relevance of this study is due to the growing interest of society in motivational speeches and personal growth trainings, which is associated with the desire to improve labor efficiency and achieve success. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of lexical and stylistic means to establish the distinctive features of the sport oriented type of motivational speeches. Identification of this type of English motivational discourse was based on the communicative purpose of the utterance, the specifics of the participants in communication and extralinguistic factors. The following methods were used: linguistic analysis; content analysis; the method of contextual analysis; discourse analysis. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the English sport oriented motivational discourse has some specific features that allow it to be distinguished as an independent type of motivational discourse. The author's special contribution to the study of the topic is the definition of the key features of sport oriented motivational discourse. The analysis of the communicative goal, participants in communication and language means demonstrates the features of verbalization of sports-oriented motivational discourse. Based on these characteristics, distinctive features of this type of discourse were established. Among them, high expressiveness, brevity of presentation and specificity of the message deployment stand out. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of the typological specificity of motivational discourse.
