This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the importance of developing critical and analytical thinking in the education of younger generations, emphasizing the essential role of teachers and parents in this process. Initially, the text highlights the challenges faced by education in the context of a constantly changing world, underlining the necessity of preparing students to navigate a massive flow of information. The role of the subject Education for Society aims to shape active citizens who can discern information and learn to interact critically with the world around them. Critical thinking is highlighted as an essential competence that must be developed from childhood. It is not only an academic skill but also a necessary one in daily life for making informed decisions. Parents, as role models and sources of inspiration, have a significant impact on the development of their children’s critical thinking. In turn, teachers can facilitate this process through the teaching methods they employ and by promoting a stimulating learning environment. In this article, we also discuss the factors that can inhibit the development of critical thinking, such as excessive trust in intuition or lack of essential knowledge, as well as the benefits of critical thinking. Students who learn to think critically become better prepared to face life’s challenges, being less susceptible to manipulation and having an enhanced ability to analyze and evaluate information. Thus, we can conclude that critical thinking is not just a skill to be learned, but a continuous process that develops throughout life, requiring time and constant practice. The provided article can serve as a starting point for a discussion about the importance of developing critical skills in the current educational context.
