Hima is a concept related to the system of Islamic protected areas reserved by the authorities to protect plants and animals. Hima has been created since the time of the Prophet SAW and continued in the next Islamic civilization. The objective of this study is to explain the conservation of the environment through the hima system and its practice in Islamic civilization as well as its effects in the present. This study uses a qualitative method by analyzing library materials. It involves searching for materials related to hima and its practice during the time of the Prophet SAW and throughout the reign of the Islamic kingdom as well as its relationship with environmental conservation. The existence of hima in Islamic civilization has proven that Islam is very concerned about environmental conservation. It is intended to protect the welfare of Muslims and prevent extreme harm to the environment. The results of the study found that hima has a positive effect on the life of animals and plants and has a positive effect on the socio-economic system of the local community, especially the low-income group to invest in the protection of natural resources and biodiversity.
