This research explores the challenges to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems in Human Resource Management (HRM) systems in Pakistan with specific emphasis on organizational, technological, ethical and cultural barriers. A quantitative approach was used for this research where 460 HR practitioners from private companies, multinational companies, public sector institutions, and startups were surveyed using a random sampling method. Data was processed in SPSS 28 and presented in bar charts and tables, with descriptive statistical measures such as mean, median, and mode calculated. Among the key barriers identified were implementation expenses (Mean=4.1), missing infrastructure (Mean=3.8), concern over data confidentiality (Mean=4.3) and resistance from fear of job loss (Mean=3.8). Only 15% of organizations surveyed reported using AI at full capacity which indicates an alarming gap in AI adoption. This assessment is the first of its kind to explore the challenges of adopting AI within the scope of Human Resource Management in Pakistan and provides recommendations to help leaders and policymakers overcome the challenges posed by the gap between AI potential and actual use.
