Abstract To recover waste heat from the heating furnace, a petrochemical enterprise has implemented the 95+ High-Efficiency Ultra-Clean Heating Furnace Waste Heat Recovery System technology (hereinafter referred to as “95+ Technology”) in its aromatics complex. The principles and features of the 95+ Technology are introduced, and three optimization schemes, namely glass plate preheater, regenerative preheater, and 95+ Technology, are compared with conventional technical solutions in the industry. The results indicate that the 95+ Waste Heat Recovery System can simultaneously meet environmental protection requirements (with SO2 emissions in flue gas being less than 4.8mg/Nm3); reduce the outlet temperature of the heating furnace chimney to below 80°C, and maintain the thermal efficiency of the heating furnace at over 95%; and address corrosion issues of low-temperature heat exchange equipment, low-temperature flues, and steel chimneys at the source, ensuring long-term safe operation. It effectively resolves the issue of discharging highly corrosive acidic flue gas condensate from equipment, saving 3.4-4MW of energy and achieving annual cost savings of 7.38 million yuan, which is significantly superior to other optimized waste heat treatment technologies.
