Corruption has killed and is killing the efforts of individuals who worked or are working so hard to make the world a better place for all. There is an abundance of both human and natural resources in the world for every creature, but greed and self-aggrandizement have introduced corruption in human thought. The World Bank’s definition of corruption as the abuse of public office for private gain is a misnomer. If this poor conceptualization remains in use, there is no reason to fight to end insecurity in the world. The level of insecurity in any part of the world is directly proportional to the combination of internal and external forces of corruption. This qualitative research is designed to show how corruption is responsible for insecurity in Nigeria. The idea of the metaphysics of corruption brings out a deeper meaning of corruption beyond its physical manifestations. It is no longer tied to the use of public office for private gain. The novelty of this paper is in historicizing corruption to bring out the ethical import whenever the word is used in any society. Findings show that no continent has a monopoly on corruption. It is corruption when advanced nations introducenon-productive economic structures in Africa to keep them impoverished for life. Corruption is the artificial creation of insecurity in underdeveloped countries and is a means of perpetual enslavement, a market for weapons and exploitation of the citizens through brain-drain and theft of mineral resources. The paper concludes that the open confession of exploitation of Africa by the developed nations is a panacea to global peace and insecurity in Nigeria.
