In the article analyzed the main problems of the construction industry affecting the economic development of Russia, considered ways to solve them. Economic analysis of the construction sector on a global scale was carried out; problems hindering the development of the construction industry within the state were identified. The relevance of the topic of this study is explained by the most global problem of the construction sector. It is adjacent, and therefore the decline of indicators in it entails a decline in other equally important sectors that determine the development of the state as a whole and the situation of each person individually. Despite the general decline in the overwhelming number of indicators of the Russian economy at the end of the twentieth century, as well as the presence of some socio-economic problems in the modern period, the construction industry maintains its indicators at a very high level.
