The author trying to consider the Ukrainian constitutional tradition in the wider European context of ideas, concepts, categories, acts, and practices of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He analyses the genesis of the idea of social contract, its main elements, and their realization in international legal and public legal relations. He traces the genesis of Ukrainian constitutional acts of seventeenth and early eighteen centuries from both national, trans-national, and all-European conditions. One of them were shortcomings of the Rzecz Pospolita constitutional formula the provided no equal place for Ukrainian people within it. The author shows that Ukrainian State Viysko Zaporozke from 1654 to 1764 formed own constitutional tradition, and discloses its main features. Special attention is devoted to the Ukrainian Constitution of 1710 and its principal innovations features.
