The article examines the methodological foundations of developing professional competencies in students majoring in Russian Language and Literature. Emphasis is placed on the need to consider various educational formats—face-to-face, distance, and blended learning—in the design and implementation of the learning process. The paper describes approaches, tools, and technologies that contribute to the effective development of subject-specific and interdisciplinary competencies in future philologists. The theoretical aspects of the competency-based approach and its application in philological education are explored. Current pedagogical strategies aimed at fostering critical thinking, research, and communication skills are presented. The importance of digitalizing the educational environment and integrating modern information and communication technologies is substantiated. Special attention is given to the role of the instructor as a methodological coordinator in blended learning settings. The article highlights the significance of individual learning paths and flexible curricula. Examples of effective teaching methods adapted to the specifics of the humanities are provided.
