The article reveals the historical aspects of the formation and development of the national science of military law: the key events, documents and theoretical concepts that contributed to its formation are considered. Special attention is paid to the role of the All-Union Institute of Law Sciences (Institute) in the formation and development of the science of military law. The paper examines the beginning of the military law formation and the need to integrate issues of history and the organization of scientific activity into its subject. The article not only introduces historical documents and facts into scientific circulation, but also analyzes their impact on the formation of the theoretical foundations of military law, emphasizing the importance of integrating historical experience into modern law enforcement and scientific research in this field. The purpose of the study is to determine the contribution of the Institute to the organization of scientific research on military law. Objectives: to present the key events and documents that contributed to the formation of the national science of military law; to determine the contribution of the Institute to the organization and development of scientific research on military law; to substantiate the need to integrate issues of history and organization of scientific activity into the subject of military law, as well as to actualize the theoretical foundations of military law based on historical experience in order to effectively respond to modern challenges and threats facing the state. Methodological foundations of the research: the author uses the dialectical method of cognition, which allows to identify the relationship between historical events and the development of legal norms, general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization, as well as special legal methods such as comparative legal and logical-legal analysis, which contributes to a more complete understanding of the specifics of military law. Conclusion: The Institute played a key role in the development of the military law science as a separate discipline, which underlines the importance of his scientific work in the context of Russian statehood. Updating the theoretical foundations of military law, based on historical experience, is necessary for an effective response to modern challenges and threats.
