This article is devoted to the study of the event aspect in the narrative strategies of female ego-writing based on the material of G. I. Rzhevskaya’s “Memoirs”. The relevance of this topic is due to the fact that the narra-tological method, which takes into account the problem of identity construction and is applicable to various types of texts, allows us to explore non-fictional works from a new angle, which leads to renewed interest in materials that were previously on the periphery of research interest. In particular, the analysis of ego-writing in the context of the narratological method opens up the possibility of studying the structure and semantics of the artistic world of narrative in terms of the value ranking of events. Based on the results obtained, it can be noted that the construction of a female ego narrative is determined by a narrative strategy that objectively depends on the context of the era and its leading styles (sentimental discourse, classical didactics), subjectively conditioned by a specific status of the narrator within the educational system of female institutions, personality traits. Using the example of an analysis of a large narrative episode, it is shown which narrative construction strategies demonstrate the narrator’s professional status: the possibilities of self-reflection in the traditional genre of “notes”, the absence of introspection of the narrator into the minds of other characters during internal focalization, a perceptual personal way of conveying events, the confessional nature of the narrative, the diegetic type of narrative, the unreliable type of narrative, the enigmatic type of intrigue. The contradictions revealed in the course of the study between the implicit and explicit purpose of creating “Memos” allow us to conclude about the complexity of the narrator’s figure and, accordingly, the world he constructs: the interaction of an unconsciously embodied internal conflict and consciously chosen strategies organizes the narrative.
