Motivation: Radiation-induced nephropathy is a therapy-limiting risk factor in patients undergoing oncologic treatment. Goal(s): Our goal was to evaluate multiparametric MRI for diagnostic of functional and structural changes in kidneys with risk of developing radiation-induced nephropathy. Approach: We examined 23 patients undergoing radionuclide therapy and 10 healthy volunteers with a multiparametric MRI protocol including ASL, DWI, BOLD, T1 & T2 mapping and volumetry. Results: Several correlations could be found between MR parameters and clinical kidney function diagnostics as well as with radiation dose per kidney. Impact: Multiparametric renal MRI could serve as an additional non-invasive diagnostic tool to detect and monitor radiation-induced nephropathy during cancer treatment.
