Abstract In today’s unpredictable world, organizations acknowledge their workforce as their most valuable competitive advantage, capable of negotiating ambiguity and adapting to rapid change. In light of Industry 4.0, emerging concepts such as Design Thinking (DT) and People Analytics (PA) play an important role in developing Human Resources (HR) practices, allowing the progression toward Smart HR (SHR), which is a requirement for future-ready organizations. The incorporation of DT encourages an environment of creativity and user-centered problem-solving abilities, allowing HR teams to create more effective and adaptive processes that match the changing demands of people and the organization. Where, PA also uses data-driven insights to optimize talent management, improve decision-making, and forecast future workforce trends, ensuring that HR initiatives are proactive and responsive. This study examines the role of DT and PA in modern organizational environments, as well as their contribution to the development of SHR 4.0. The study explores how these principles improve HR strategies and practices and lead to better organizational outcomes, drawing on literature spanning from 2014 to 2024 from prominent management databases: Scopus, Emerald Insight, and Google Scholar. By synthesizing previous research, the work presents a complete theoretical model that highlights the important variables and implications of DT, PA, and SHR. The proposed approach emphasizes the significance of combining innovative thinking and analytical insights to construct agile, resilient HR systems that drive organizational performance in an age of rapid change, technology innovation, and future readiness for SHR 4.0.
