Abstract This article analyzes visual artworks by artists Madalena dos Santos Reinbolt and Carmézia Emiliano. The research was anchored in theories from decolonial studies and the intersectionality between issues of gender, race, and class, using a multidisciplinary methodological framework. It concludes that there is a need to make visible and valorize visual representations of ancestral cosmovisions that contribute to breaking down Eurocentric paradigms, which perpetuate unequal power relations between different social groups that especially affect women from traditional communities.
