The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has sparked significant infrastructure development in Gilgit-Baltistan, but it has also raised profound environmental concerns. This study examining the main environmental issues of China Pakistan Economic Corridor by focusing its impacts on deforestation, habitat destruction, soil erosion, landslides, and elevated pollution levels in water bodies. The specific vulnerability of Gilgit-baltistan is also brought into consideration by analysis the similar programmes in other mountainous region. Examining this issue, the study also assesses the effectiveness of current environmental policies and regulations in mitigating the negative environmental impacts associated with CPEC projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. This research is based on qualitatively gathering ideas and insights from existing sources such as research articles, books, reports, and journals and the analysis is informed by conceptual framework to create the link between environmental issues with the projects under CPEC. It has been identified that there is critic need of strong environmental legislation, improve regulatory frame work, environmental educations, awareness and community involvement to promote sustainable development. This research aims to educate local communities, government agencies, and environmental organizations about the critical need of strong environmental protection policies that will support sustainable development and guarantee the long-term health of Gilgit-Baltistan's natural and human resources.
