Bibliometric analysis is a widely used evaluation method for assessing the impact, development, structure, and trends of scientific publications. This study aims to systematically review the existing literature on energy efficiency in buildings. In this context, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis was conducted using data retrieved from the Web of Science (WOS) database for the period 1981–2024. The analysis was performed utilizing RStudio and VOSviewer software. The dataset comprises 2375 publications that include the terms "Energy Efficiency" and "Building" in their titles. The findings indicate a growing research focus in recent years on topics such as smart building systems, renewable energy integration in buildings, passive design strategies, and zero-energy building concepts. Furthermore, a significant increase in the number of publications in this field has been observed since 2005. Analyzing publication and citation metrics, the study identifies China as the most influential country in energy efficiency research in buildings.
