Abstract Observations on the development of ponderosa pine seed from flower to mature cone have been made over a period of nine years. Various climatic factors have been measured and related to flower and cone production. Supplemental studies on growth and mortality of cones were made and the effects of cones growing in a cluster on growth and seed production were determined. The results of these studies and conclusions drawn from them are presented in this article.
