Abstract

Abstract The author, a Major in the U. S. Army, served as sawmill and lumber specialist to the First U. S. Army Engineer Corps during the invasion of Germany and the Battle of the Bulge. Prior to V-E Day he was made chief forester for the Rhine Province, and later chief forester for Greater Hesse. He describes recent forestry and lumber operations in that region.
