Abstract

Abstract In Europe community forests are a fait accompli . In the United States little progress has been made in the development of such forests. Last summer Prof. Nelson C. Brown had an opportunity to study community forests in Europe. He is now engaged by the Forest Service to explore the possibilities of community forests in the United States. The extent to which European communities have undertaken the development of community forests and their financial and recreational possibilities will be of especial interest to American foresters.
