Abstract In a previous issue of the JOURNAL Dr. Illick traced out the historical development of forestry activities in New York state. In the present article, which is based on five years of study, the various types of administrative setups for state forestry are described, and the difficulties and opportunities in state forest administration are defined. State forestry administration is in a state of flux. Dr. Illick's study should serve as a valuable basis for any proposed changes in state forest administration.
