Abstract One method of handling the inferior sprout hardwood stands of the New Jersey coastal plain has been to clear cut and plant the openings among the stumps with coniferous seedlings. In this paper the history of several thousand pine seedlings, interplanted during the years 1930 to 1933 inclusive, has been followed through the 1934 growing season.
