This article presents a short literature review and classification of key approaches to conflict prevention and resolution. The great number of conflict management theories, concepts, and methods is often difficult to exploit and because of that, they are quite frequently misunderstood. The article aims to make the process easier by summarizing the key approaches into a simple typology. It scopes only the most popular approaches to conflict prevention and resolution. All relevant information has been derived from scientific papers and is not based on personal investigations. As a result, key approaches to conflict prevention and resolution have been identified, discussed, and summarized in a way that enables their easier practical use. The paper concludes that the best approach for conflict prevention and resolution depends on the context and long-term goals. There is no universal tool that can be used in all circumstances. The article is not pretending for scientific originality but can be used as a tool for researchers and everyone who is working in the field of conflict management and seeks a better understanding of approaches to conflict prevention and resolution.
