In August 2017, a trial excavation was conducted at H orbat Qoshe t north of Qiryat T iv‘on (Permit No. A-8048; map ref. 214010–667/738264–9017), prior to the expansion of the H ilf community. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Israel Land Authority, was directed by D. Avshalom-Gorni (field photography), with the assistance of Y. Lavan and Y. Yaakobi (administration), A. Najar and M. Bekker-Shamir (area supervising), E. Bisharat (area supervising, guidance and field photography), S. Najar (metal detection and instruction), V. Essman, Y. Shmidov and D. Porotsky (surveying and drafting), M. Peleg (drone photography and models), A. Shapiro (GPS), K. Covello-Paran (guidance), N. Getzov (consulting), L. Porat (pottery restoration) and A. Latrolo (instruction), as well as B. Hanna and O. Zidan. Youths from the Hechalutz gap-year social service program from Nof Ha-Galil, Tiberias and Haifa, along with workers from Kafr Manda, Sha‘ab and Nof Ha-Galil, participated in the excavation as well.
